Public Events and Bar Nights
As a general rule, public events like Leather Church SLC are open to all (21+) and openly advertised in local printed media and social media. Attending a bar event is great way to find a sponsor for private events and classes.
blackBOOTS also sponsors community events such as Salt Lake City Leather Pride and The Big Gay Carwash in addition to collaborating with organizations including UAF Legacy Health and The Salt Lake County Health Department for events focused on LGBTQ+ sexual health and well being.
blackBOARD Classes
The blackBOARD is blackBOOTS' educational program for men aimed at exploring the world of sex positivity, leather, kink, fetishes, and BDSM. Classes are usually held on the second Tuesday of every month at The Shire.
blackBOARD classes are usually private in order to maintain the privacy and security of all attendees. Classes are listed on the blackBOOTS Facebook page. You can RSVP to a class on the blackBOOTS Facebook page or via email at blackbootsslc@gmail.com
If the class is at The Shire, it is subject to the same rules as our Private Events as listed below, requiring a Shire card or sponsor to attend.
Private Events and Play Parties
As the name implies, these events are private, by invitation only and are subject to additional rules and protocols in order to maintain legality, privacy and security of all attendees. Private events are listed on the blackBOOTS Facebook page and invitations go out via email to those who are subscribed to the e-mail list. You can sign up for the e-mailing list in person for future events at The Shire. Our email service provider does not permit us to add anyone directly to the mailing list.
You can RSVP directly for a private event if you have a Shire card. First time attendees must have their sponsor RSVP for them. RSVPs must include your full legal name and the full legal name of any guest you are sponsoring. We never share your name or any private information with anyone but it is required by the venue for legal purposes. You can use a nickname with the other attendees if you are concerned about your personal privacy.
Valid ID (21+) is always required at private events. Everyone is also required to sign a liability waiver and complete an online orientation focused on consent and the rules of the venue.
Shire card holders are permitted to sponsor guests; please make sure they are low drama and can respect the privacy of all the other attendees. Sponsors take full responsibility for their guests' actions and risk losing the privilege to sponsor others or possibly attend future events if you bring unruly guests.
Play parties may have a sexy/kinky dress code but you must arrive in street clothes and get changed in the changing room at the venue. You must change back into normal street clothes when leaving the premises. Play parties have many rules and protocols to maintain safety and privacy. Please make sure you read through any instructions you are sent when you RSVP for a private event and complete the online orientation prior to arrival.
